These are the frequently asked questions of Wuf, but if there is a question that you have that is not listed here. Please feel free to send us a text.
do you groom cats?
Wuf is 100% a dog grooming business. We have groomed cats in the past, but it is just not our thing. We love doggos! We feel that it's much easier to read dogs and their energy, and kitties just aren't the same for us. Every groomer has things they love, and dogs are just our favorite!
can i watch?
The short answer to this is, no. Due to our insurance policy, both auto and business, it is not allowed. Also, dogs tend to behave much better when their owners are not present. Thank you for understanding.
do you require vaccination records?
It is California state law that your dog be vaccinated for at least their Rabies shot. Although we highly recommend that your pup has all of their shots: Parvo, Distemper, Bordetella, and Rabies, Wuf does not require vaccinations to book an appointment at this time. However, if we get bit, you may be liable for the damages and costs associated with those damages, as well as be able to provide the necessary proof of vaccines.
How often should my dogs nails be trimmed?
This is going to depend on how active your fur baby is, their weight, how they walk on their paws and their age. Your dogs toenails should be flush with their paw pads, and never go passed them. We highly recommend getting your dogs nails trimmed at least monthly. Overgrown nails are not healthy for your dog and can cause major issues down the road for your furry loved one, such as joint issues and arthritis.
my dog is short-haired. Does it need regular grooming?
YES, YES, and YES! Just because your dog has short hair doesn't mean it doesn't need regular grooming in their life. This is because they need monthly nail trimming, ear cleaning, and bathing/brushing. It is so important for the health of your dog to keep them on a routine grooming schedule. We recommend every 4, 6 or 8 weeks.
how do you determine your prices?
Our prices reflect our expertise, skills, and the ability to calm and connect with your dog. Wuf prices reflect our services, as well, which go above and beyond just bathing your beloved fur baby, and trimming their fur. Even the basic services have a health-based focus that goes beyond aesthetics. Additionally, our goal is to offer a comfortable, engaging, and relaxing environment that differs from the sterility found in most grooming salons. Also, you must also consider the costs to run a small business in the state of California.
why are your prices so much more than a regular shop?
Mobile grooming is a luxury service and is by no means comparable to shop grooming. There is the convenience of us coming to you, one-on-one attention and treatment, no car rides, kennels, barking dogs, leaving your dog for hours. Whereas a groomer at a shop can do 8-15 dogs a day, we can only do 4-6. Our prices includes mobile van payment, gas, insurances, taxes, our salary, advertising, supplies, and emergency repairs. Our pricing reflects the average for inland empire mobile grooming.
do you give any discounts?
Wuf is a small business with only Erin grooming and running the show. This is not just a hobby for her, it is 100% a full-time career and how she supports herself and her family. We strive for excellence and are constantly advancing in our career and my skills. There are always the people who say, "That's more expensive than my hair!" or "I can get it cheaper somewhere else." There is an old saying of, "You get what you pay for." We really mean no offense when saying this, but please understand that this is Erin's livelihood and her passion. So the short answer to if we give discounts is, no. If we gave discounts we would never be profitable. This is also same for multiple dog households, no discounts. Thank you for understanding.
what are your hours?
Since Wuf is a mobile business, our hours do vary. Our open days of business are Wednesday through Saturday, with the occasional Sunday, Monday or Tuesday as well. During the working week and on the road, it is difficult for us to get back to the messages left on my phone. So please bare with me if I don't get back to your message right away. We are also a text only business for the safety of us as well as the dogs in our care. For the most part we start our day at 8am; However, in the summertime we will be starting our day at 6am due to the hot weather. Thank you for understanding.
do you sedate dogs?
No, we do not sedate dogs, nor do we take dogs that are under sedation. Please see our Policies and Procedures form for more info on why we do not take sedated dogs. However; we do believe in CBD or all-natural calming treats and please feel free to give these to your dog, just make sure to tell us when you do.
when should my puppy be groomed?
It is very important to start your pup off with grooming as soon as possible. We highly recommend that your baby have their first two sets of shots and be at least 8 weeks of age. Wuf introduces your pup to grooming in a one-on-one stress-free environment away from the hustle and bustle and loudness of a brick and mortar grooming salon. The first time your puppy comes into the van is an introductory groom. This means that they will get bathed and will have some minor trimming around their eyes, feet and sanitary. This is to get them used to grooming, something that they will need for the rest of their lives. It's very crucial that they have a good experience, and we promise they will be treated as if they were our own.
